Red Wolves Fall to Nebraska 38-9

Lincoln, NE (KAIT) - The Arkansas State Red Wolves dropped their first game of the season today, blown out by #18 Nebraska 38 - 9.

In front of a sellout Memorial Stadium crowd of 85,035 (5th largest crowd to watch a ASU football game), Nebraska scored touchdowns on the first three possessions to take a 21-0 lead.

Arkansas State senior tailback Reggie Arnold rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, senior wideout Jahbari McLennan hauled in a career-high seven passes for 69 yards and senior quarterback Corey Leonard accounted for 153 yards of total offense on the day.

Defensively, the Red Wolves were led by a career-high 10 tackles from sophomore linebacker Demario Davis and seven stops from senior defensive back Cordarious Mingo, also a career high.

But they were no match for Nebraska quarterback Zac Lee's 340 yards and four touchdowns.

The Red Wolves have two more non conference road tests against Iowa and Louisville.

ASU gets next week off, then they'll host 0-2 Troy in the Sun Belt opener September 26th.
