(Walnut Ridge, Ark.) - It was three matches and three wins for the Williams Baptist College volleyball team over the weekend, playing at the Hendrix Tournament in Conway, Ark. The Lady Eagles took 3-0 wins over the University of Dallas and Schreiner University Friday, and then fought to a 3-2 victory over Belhaven College on Saturday.
Against Dallas, Stephanie Hart Bennett and Caitlin Wakefield each notched seven kills, and Jenny Eubank had six. Casey Jo Schatzley had 17 assists, as well as four service aces. Laura Jardeen Rhein led the way defensively with 30 digs, followed by Katie Gramlich with 21.
Williams took the match, 25-12, 25-22, 26-24.
The Lady Eagles turned around and swept another Texas school, Schreiner, later Friday. Bailey Stanley had 16 kills for WBC, while Reynolds had 10 kills and seven blocks. Schatzley had 17 assists, and Jodi Stepp had 12 assists and 14 digs. Rhein recorded 27 digs.
WBC swept the match in three hard-fought games, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23.
Williams faced its toughest challenge of the weekend on Saturday, going against Belhaven of Mississippi. Stanley recorded 12 kills, and Wakefield had 10. Stepp had 20 assists and 12 digs, while Schatzley had 17 assists and 10 digs. Rhein posted 30 digs.
The Lady Eagles had to fight through five games to win the match, 25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 18-25, 15-6.
WBC hosts Hendrix College on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Southerland-Mabee Center. They will play at home again the following Tuesday, Sept. 22, also at 6:00 p.m.
