ASU Women's Golf tied for 10th place at Chip-N Club Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. (9/14/09) - The Arkansas State women's golf team shot a combined 631 for the opening two rounds of play at the Chip-N Club Invitational on Monday, finishing the tournament's first day tied for 10th place among 14 teams.
The Red Wolves posted a 315 and 316 for the first and second rounds, respectively, placing them in a tie with Northern Iowa.  ASU is 10 strokes behind eighth-place Wichita State, while Missouri leads the field with a 590.  Host school Nebraska and Sacramento State finished the first day with a combined 594 and tied for second place.
Jennifer Welch, who finished a team-best tied for third place at the Red Wolves season-opening tournament last week, shot a combined 149 to complete the opening two rounds tied for 10th place.  Welch shot a 72 for the first 18 holes before coming back to record a 77 for the second 18.
Welch was followed by Cassie Huffer in a tie for 26th place with a 153 (74-79) and Adrian Sportsman in a tie for 38th place with a 157 (81-76).  Jennifer Loiacano is tied for 75th place?with a 172 (88-84) and Courtney Blevins is in 81st place with a 181 (93-88).
The third and final round of the Chip-N Club Invitational will be played Tuesday.
