Jonesboro, AR (KAIT)- This week marks the 222nd anniversary of the signing of the American Constitution. To honor this important moment in American history, members of the daughters of the American Revolution teamed up with 9th graders from Annie Camp Junior High School.
The program featured music provided by the band and choirs and a so-called "Living Flag." Students also carried signs representing the states at the time of ratification. To round out the program selected students presented speeches on what the constitution means to them.
"Students today need to be good citizens that's what civics is about. The study of the Constitution sets them up for a lifetime of being a productive citizen for our society" said Civics teacher Heath Roberts.
Today marks the 21st year that the Daughters of the American Revolution have teamed up with Annie Camp to celebrate the signing.
