LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor says he's still reviewing a proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system released this week by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus.
The Democrat told reporters Friday that he wants to go over the specifics of the measure before he decides whether to support the bill. Pryor says that the cost of health care reform remains a major issue for him, and he noted that Baucus' plan would reduce the deficit.
He called the bill "quite a bit cheaper" than other plans considered by Congress. Pryor said he remains optimistic that a bipartisan health care reform bill can pass Congress, even though no Republicans have come out in support of Baucus' plan.
