Volkswagen show raises money for special cause

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Folks in Region 8 came out today to show off their bug collections!  The Community Fellowship Church Parking Lot held the annual NEA Volks-Folks event benefitting the American Cancer Society.

Volkswagen bugs and vans were decorated and displayed for all to see.  Three bug owner and NEA Baptist nurse Missy Wilkins understands the importance of these type of events to help families in their time of need.

"We help them with housing while they're getting their treatments in other cities.  We help them with gasoline.  With the rising cost of gas people have to have money just to get to where they're going," said Wilkins.

This was the second year the event was held at Community Fellowship Church.  Collectors came from all over Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri.

The NEA Volk-Folks meet once a month at Sharp's Small Engine Repair in Brookland.
