5k in downtown Jonesboro raises money

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Runners were ready to go at 7:30 a.m. Saturday to help benefit City Youth Ministries.  Paticipants in a the "Downtown J-Town 5K" ran the hour-long course through downtown Jonesboro.

Bill Rice, Director of the race, was excited about the turnout and what it will do for the youth of the community.

"This community needs to really make sure that those at-risk kids are catered for," said Rice.

Money from this event will go towards helping City Youth Minstries not only develop their current facility but also to expand their organization into other parts of Jonesboro.

For the "Downtown J-Town 5K" Hollie Huckabee was the race course coordinator, Tyler Turner served as registration coordinator, Kenneth Farish was the sponsor coordinator, and Jordan Penn was the refreshment coordinator.

224 people participated in the race and $4000 was raised.
