Large crowd helps 2009 'Boyer Mile' get underway

JONESBORO, AR - The eighth annual "Boyer Mile" preseason conditioning program for ASU women's basketball got underway Tuesday night at the ASU running track, with over 130 participants joining the team for the run.

Red Wolves fans joined the team at the track to participate, running and walking the timed mile while enjoying live music from PF Flyers, and door prizes.

Any ASU fan who is not a high school athlete (grades 9-12) is invited to join head coach Brian Boyer and the Red Wolves women's basketball team to participate in the final two weeks of the four-week training program.  While the Red Wolves will be running a timed mile, anyone wishing to run or walk may join the team, making the conditioning program more enjoyable for the athletes while at the same time promoting fitness in the community.

For the fourth consecutive year, the "Boyer Mile" has added a "competitive division" timed group run, and a "fitness division" for those more interested in a walking/light workout.

Each participant receives a t-shirt and will be treated to a post-mile party October 6.  There is no cost to participate in the program.

Boyer Mile Schedule

September 29 - Timed Mile (6:00 p.m.)

October 6 - Timed Mile/Post-Run Party (5:30 p.m.)
