Nine Region 8 residents arrested in drug trafficking investigation

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Nine Region 8 residents, many of them from Batesville, were arrested Wednesday as part of a four-year joint drug trafficking investigation named "Tiendo Hielo" or "Ice Store."

The investigation was initiated by local Drug Enforcement Administration agents and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force in mid-2005.

DEA agents said the nine were part of a large-scale methamphetamine ring in Batesville.

Investigators say the suspects were distributing "ice," which has a purity level greater than 80 percent, from Mexico.

Not only were the suspects selling the potent drug, agents say they were also transporting it to other cities including Memphis, Tennessee; Kansas City, Missouri; Des Moines, Iowa ; and Indianapolis, Indiana.

According to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas those arrested on Wednesday are:

Jose Fernando Tenorio, age 32, of Batesville

Luis Andres Tenorio, age 31, of Batesville

Noe Gayton, age 39, of Batesville

Israel Ceranda Venia a.k.a. Juan Pena, age 24, of Batesville

Sandra Milligan, age 52, of Batesville

David Cook, age 52, of Clinton

John Huff, age 42, hometown unknown

Katie Brokaw, age 20, of Batesville

Valdimar Fabila Gonzalez a.k.a. Lorenzo Garcia, age unknown, of Batesville
