SEC School Nuggets
ALABAMA - Alabama has scored on eight of its 10 first quarter possessions this season, resulting in five field goals and three touchdowns. The Crimson Tide has run 69 first quarter plays this season totaling 449 yards against Virginia Tech, Florida International and North Texas.
ARKANSAS - The Razorbacks have passed for eight touchdowns through the first two games of 2009, which is twice as many as it threw during the first two games of 2008.
AUBURN - Auburn has won 18 consecutive games overall and 10 consecutive at Jordan-Hare Stadium with Gene Chizik on the coaching staff.
FLORIDA - Over its past eight games, Florida has rushed for 2,316 yards (289.5 yards per game) and 24 TDs. Only Georgia Tech has rushed for more yards in that span (2,390). In each of their first two games of 2009, the Gators had three different players rush for 70-plus yards.
GEORGIA - The Bulldogs have scored a combined 93 points during their last two games (41-South Carolina, 52-Arkansas). This is the most points against two consecutive SEC teams since 2004 when the Bulldogs edged Florida, 31-24, and beat Kentucky, 62-17.
KENTUCKY - The Wildcats lead the nation in fewest quarterback sacks allowed and is one of just two schools that hasn't allowed a sack this season (UL-Lafayette the other).
LSU - The Tiger defense has not allowed a touchdown in the last six quarters and LSU has held its last two opponents to less than 300 total yards in both games.
OLE MISS - With eight straight wins, Ole Miss is riding its longest win streak in early 37 years and boasts the second-longest current streak in the nation. The Rebels are shooting for a 3-0 start for the first time since 1989.
MISSISSIPPI STATE - After winning just one game against a ranked opponent from 2001 to middle of 2007, State has won three of its last six games against ranked foes. The Bulldogs defeated #14 Kentucky and #21 Alabama in 2007 and defeated #13 Vanderbilt last season.
SOUTH CAROLINA - Senior LB Eric Norwood is tied for school record in career sacks with 26. He needs just 1.5 more sacks to break into the SEC all-time top 10 in that category.
TENNESSEE - A victory over Ohio on Saturday would be the Vols' 500th all-time win in Knoxville. Though games have been played at multiple venues, Tennessee has won 499 all-time home games. The Vols' Knoxville record stands at 499-133-25 (.778).
VANDERBILT - The Commodore defense has allowed just three total touchdowns - and none through the air - in its first three outings. The 38-point opponent total is the fewest points allowed by Vanderbilt in a three-game span during the Bobby Johnson-era.
