No texting while driving, starting Thursday

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas drivers are going to have another reason to keep their hands on the wheel. A new state law that will ban reading or writing text messages and e-mails from handheld devices while driving goes into effect Thursday.

The measure that passed in the Legislature was called "Paul's Law," after Paul Davidson of Jonesboro.

The father of three was killed in a head-on crash with a driver who was allegedly writing a text message. --- Information from: The Sentinel-Record,
