ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Harding men's golf team placed 14th of 15 teams at the Flager College Invitational, played Monday and Tuesday at the prestigious Palencia Club.
The Bisons shot 318-319-312 for a three-round total of 949. Valdosta State won the event with a score of 892. Flager was second at 903 and South Carolina-Beaufort was third at 904.
Harding freshman Blake Chase was the top Bison, placing tied for 24th. He shot 78-76-76--230. Chesley Gunn of Valdosta State was the individual medalist, shooting a 3-under, 213. He was the only golfer under par and won by four strokes over Chris Lane of South Carolina-Beaufort.
Other Harding golfers included Bruce McMullen (t-50th, 238), Lewis Jackson (t-54th, 240), Dustin Richter (71st, 251) and Ryan Hadash (75th, 256).
Harding will return to action Oct. 12-13 at the William Woods Invitational in Fulton, Mo.
