Kansas City, KS (KAIT) - Batesville native Mark Martin entered the Price Chopper 400 with a slim 10 point lead over Jimmie Johnson in the Sprint Cup Standings.
He led the first 11 laps of the race, and hung around the front all 400 miles, just as he's done all season long.
Martin finished 7th, seven seconds behind winner Tony Stewart. Jimmie Johnson finished 10th, leading 53 laps, but it wasn't enough to chop into Martin's points lead.
9 of the 12 Chase drivers finished in the top 10 today, a new NASCAR record.
The Sprint Cup heads west to California for the Pepsi 500.
