10-year-old killed crossing street in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a 10-year-old girl was struck and killed by a vehicle as she crossed a street by the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville.

Police say the girl was attending the Arkansas Athletes Outreach Festival with her family and crossing Razorback Road when she was hit by a Cadillac Escalade at about 8:45 a.m. Saturday.

The girl, who hasn't been identified, was taken to the Washington Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon.

Police cited the driver of the Cadillac, 23-year-old Charles Frazier, with careless driving, and the accident remains under investigation. --- Information from: Northwest Arkansas Times, http://www.nwanews.com/times/
