ASU Women's Golf tied for seventh

BRADENTON, Fla. (10/5/09) - The Arkansas State women's golf team shot a combined 622 for the first two rounds of the Waterlefe Invitational on Monday, finishing the tournament's opening day of play tied for seventh place among 17 teams.
The Red Wolves fired a first-round 303 that placed them tied for third place, but slipped into a tie for seventh place with Troy after shooting a 319 for the second 18 holes.  Competing in its fourth tournament of the season, ASU's 303 was its third lowest round of the season.
Adrian Sportsman led ASU with a combined 149, which leaves her tied for 11th place heading into tomorrow's final round.    Sportsman shot a 75 for the first round and then posted a 74 for the second, which ties her lowest single-round score of the season.
The Red Wolves' Cassie Huffer and Anna Carling both shot a 157 and are tied for 39th place, while Jennifer Loiacano posted a 159 and Jennifer Welch a 163 to end the day tied for 45th and 65th place, respectively.
Nova Southern leads the field with a 589 and is followed by Campbell (592), host-school South Florida (595), Stetson (598), Daytona State (608), McNeese State (616), Arkansas State (622), Troy (622), Florida Atlantic?(623), Southern Miss (629), Charleston Southern (631), South Alabama (632), Florida Gulf Coast (634), Montana (642), South Florida B (646), UAB?(658) and Eckerd College (679).
