Stimulus sends $60K to Walnut Ridge for police cars

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - The streets of Walnut Ridge will soon be a little safer, thanks to $60,000 in grant money being awarded for new police cruisers.

Mayor Shelia Rogers says this will "definitely" help her city, as officers will have the latest technology available to patrol the streets.

Mayor Rogers says the money will be used to buy two new police cruisers. She says it comes at the perfect time, as she and the police chief had been exploring their options as to how the city could purchase new cars.

The money was awarded as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (stimulus) from the JAG program.
