CITY, STATE (KAIT) -The Craighead County Veterans Monument Foundation has moved it's normal Veterans observance to November 6 and 7.
The vigil at the doughboy statue at the county courthouse will start at 11 am on November 6th. An honor guard from local JRROTC programs will be on duty.
The Veterans Day Parade will commence at 10 am on November 7th starting with line up at 8:30 down by the old Baptist Church location.
Festivities will conclude with the annual Military Ball to be held at the ASU armory beginning at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $10 per couple.
The reason for all these changes is so that the members of the 875th who are leaving for more training shortly before the real Veterans day can take part and be honored by the celebration.
The 875th is headed for Afghanistan in the first part of 2010.
Danny Honnoll the parade chairman says this is the largest Veterans day parade in years and all are welcome to take part including WW2 vets who need to ride in the parade and be recognized for their sacrifices.
