LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State is moving in the wrong direction - literally.
The Red Wolves committed 16 penalties for 105 yards in their 16-10 loss at Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday night. Arkansas State still had a chance to win late in the fourth quarter after driving to the Louisiana-Monroe 20. But the Red Wolves were hit with a 5-yard substitution infraction, and Corey Leonard was sacked on back-to-back plays even though the Warhawks were only rushing three players.
Afterward, Arkansas State coach Steve Roberts took the blame for his team's performance and apologized on the team's behalf.
