JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Four people are behind bars in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old mother of two.  Police say Edward Anthony Liggins shot his ex-girlfriend and a friend of hers around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Friday Liggins and the three others were in court for probable cause hearings.

"First officers on the scene found one person lying in the apartment floor bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head," said Jonesboro Police Department Detective Ernest Ward.

20-year-old Tyrina Cornwell was taken to the hospital where on Thursday she died.  Investigators say Cornwell's two young children were in the apartment at the time of the shooting.  Police say their father was the one who pulled the trigger.

"Witnesses at the scene say they saw a person they believe to be Liggins run from the back door of the house jump into a white car that he's been known to drive," said Ward.

As he walked from the courtroom Liggins said he wasn't even there when Cornwell was shot, but detective ward says they have more than sufficient evidence to charge Liggins with this crime.

"He was later found about two hours later hiding in the trunk of a vehicle of his girlfriend's car," said Ward.

On Friday Jessica Dorris, Bob Davis and Kierro Liggins were all charged with hindering apprehension.

"The other three were occupying the passenger compartment of the vehicle where he was hiding in the trunk," said Liggins.
