Concord, NC (KAIT) - Batesville native Mark Martin wanted to cash a checkered flag check at Saturday night's NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America, and add a deposit to cut into Jimmie Johnson's Sprint Cup lead.
Martin started 10th and led 5 laps, but couldn't find his way back up front. He finished 17th, 12 seconds back.
Johnson led a race high 92 laps, and took his second win in as many weeks. It extended his Sprint Cup points lead to 90, with 5 races to go in the Chase.
The Sprint Cup Series heads to the paperclip in Martinsville. Coverage of the Tums Fast Relief 500 starts next Sunday at noon, and you can watch it on KAIT.
