CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Harding women's soccer team tied West Georgia after two overtimes Sunday in Gulf South Conference action, 2-2.The Lady Bisons are 3-8-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in the GSC.
West Georgia drew first blood in the 34th minute of play when Melanie Kilburn received a pass from Jenna Greathouse on a breakaway to go up 1-0.
After the half, Minnie Guzman tied the game 1-1 in the 67th minute when she shot the ball through the hands of the Wolves goalkeeper for her second goal of the season. Five minutes later, West Georgia took back the led when Greathouse found the back of the net off a free kick. In the 79th minute of play, Harding tied the game again when Brianna Meek sent a cross to Chelsea Brandon for her fourth goal of the season.
In the first overtime, both teams had chances but couldn't connect. The Wolves took three shots but all were too high. The Lady Bisons had three corner kicks and took two shots but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the final overtime period, the Wolves had three more chances but the Lady Bisons defense held West Georgia at bay.
West Georgia took 20 shots; nine of them were on goal. Harding goalkeeper Hannah Douglas had seven saves for the Lady Bisons.
The Lady Bisons are back in action Friday, traveling to Jackson, Miss., to face Belhaven College at 1 p.m.
