Region 8 man who escaped from prison pleads guilty

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - Two convicted murderers who escaped from the Cummins Unit by wearing guard uniforms have been sentenced to an additional six years in prison.

A third man who escaped from the Varner Unit also was sentenced after a guilty plea Monday.

Jeffrey Grinder, 33, and Calvin Adams, 39, both escaped by wearing prison guard uniforms May 29 and were caught June 2 in New York. The judge tacked their prison time onto the end of their sentences of life in prison. Grinder and Adams are now in the Varner Supermax Unit.

Charles "Tubby" Wilson, 63, escaped Oct. 10, 2008, by driving a tractor off the Varner Unit grounds. He was caught Oct. 22. Wilson, a Pope County drug offender serving 40 years, Wilson was sentenced Monday to a concurrent 10 years in prison.
