FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a 74-year-old Forrest City man on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of his wife.
Willie L. Whitley is being held without bond in the death of 65-year-old Antoinette Whitley, who was found bleeding from the upper part of her body on Wednesday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Memphis, Tenn., television station WHBQ reported that a neighbor called police after Willie Whitley approached him and said police should be called, as "I just killed my wife."
Whitley is a longtime member of the Forrest City Planning Commission and had also served on the St. Francis County Democratic Central Committee.
Prosecutors say relatives had said that medication Willie Whitley was taking had recently been changed.
