Harrisburg, AR (KAIT) Some Region 8 residents took time on Saturday to volunteer and make Arkansas more beautiful.
At Lake Poinsett State Park, boy scouts and cub scouts from Harrisburg, Wynne, Heber Springs and local volunteers took part in the Great American Cleanup.
Several pitched in to clean up the park and the highway in front of the park.
"This is a community event. Getting the community together to learn about litter prevention and actually taking care of our roadsides and our parks. So our whole community is invited to come out and those people who come out are from our community so it's a great learning experience" according to Kathy Evans, Assistant Park Superintendent.
In a first this year, the Harrisburg East Lab took to the water in Kayaks to help clean up along the lake side.
