Louisville wary as Arkansas State visits

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe thinks the Cardinals could use a week off after nearly a dozen players left last week's loss to No. 5 Cincinnati with injuries.

Instead, Kragthorpe finds himself looking for enough healthy bodies to play on Saturday against Arkansas State (2-4).

Louisville (2-5) should have quarterback Adam Froman back after he left the Cincinnati game with an elbow injury. Yet the Cardinals could be without leading rusher Victor Anderson and a handful of other major contributors.

Kragthorpe isn't using the injuries as an excuse for his team's poor play of late, and he knows the Red Wolves are hardly pushovers. Arkansas State hung tough with still-unbeaten Iowa earlier this month and have the top-ranked defense in the Sun Belt Conference.

Louisville needs a win to try and build momentum into a brutal November that includes road games at West Virginia and South Florida.
