LEPANTO, AR (KAIT) - Two Region 8 females are in the hospital after a single car accident on the East Poinsett High School campus Friday afternoon. According to David Layman with the Lepanto Police Department, a 16-year old male dropped off a friend at the band room on campus. When he backed up to leave, he struck two females with his truck.. Police say weather may have played a role in the accident.

One female was taken to St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro with pain in her left leg. Police first believed her leg may have been broken, but since have said otherwise. She is 16-years old.

The other girl, 14, has been reportedly suffering from head injuries. Police say the girl's parents have taken her to a local hospital for a check-up.

Both females are expected to fully recover. The incident happened in the bus parking lot, police said.
