Talladega, AL (KAIT) - Batesville native Mark Martin entered the Amp Energy 500 hoping to pop a tab into Jimmie Johnson's 118 point lead.
Instead, he barrel rolled into a 28th place finish, getting involved in the Big One with a lap to go.
Martin started second, led seven laps, and ran up front all day long until the wreck.
Three time defending Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson avoided both big accidents of the day to finish 8th. He was one of the 27 drivers to lead the race, with 63 lead changes.
Johnson's finish extended his points lead to 181, with three races to go.
Jamie McMurry lead a race-high 31 laps to capture the checkered flag for only the third time in his career.
