ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Four second half goals earned the Ouachita Baptist men's soccer team the final spot in the upcoming Gulf South Conference Tournament and eliminated Harding from the tournament as the Tigers defeated the Bisons 4-0 Sunday.
After a scoreless first half, Harding (4-14-0, 1-4-0) pressed the attack in the second period. The Bisons unleashed 16 shots in the half, but none found the back of the net. Ouachita Baptist (7-6-0, 2-3-0) scored its quartet of goals on only nine second-half shots.
Ouachita Baptist will move on to meet regular season champions West Florida in the semifinals of the GSC Tournament next weekend. Harding will miss out on the tournament for the first time in the last three seasons.
The Tigers scored their first goal only 29 seconds into the second half on an unassisted score by Payam Pourjavard. Pourjavard then assisted on Victor Romero's goal just over three minutes later. Rizvan Ceka scored the final two goals less than two minutes apart in the 71st and 73rd minutes.
Harding junior Connor Galloway had eight shots in the game, tied for ninth-most in a Bison single game. Six of those shots were on-goal.
Harding will close out the season Monday with a non-conference game against Christian Brothers in Memphis. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
