ASU Men's Golf in seventh place at tournament

SPRINGFIELD, La. (11/2/09) - The Arkansas State men's golf team shot a combined 590 for the first two rounds of play at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday, finishing the tournament's opening day in seventh place.

The Red Wolves finished the first round in second place with a 289, but dropped to seventh after posting a 301 for the second 18 holes.  Rice leads the 13-team field with a 579, while Louisiana-Lafayette and New Orleans both recorded a 580 to finish the day tied for second place.

Tied for 23rd place, Tyler Thompson and Chris Pledger both shot a 148 to lead ASU.  Lloyd du Preez and Kell Shenep are tied for 30th place after both posted a 149.  Warren Hood shot a 153 to finish the first two rounds tied for 49th place.

The third and final round of the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate will be played Tuesday.
