SEARCY – Arkansas Tech quarterback Nick Graziano passed for 403 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Wonder Boys to 52-31 victory over Harding in the Gulf South Conference regular season finale for both teams at First Security Stadium.
With the victory, Arkansas Tech (8-2, 6-2) will likely qualify for the NCAA Division II playoffs that begin next Saturday.
Arkansas Tech’s offense compiled 537 yards and 30 first downs. Defensively, the Wonder Boys intercepted five Harding passes.
Arkansas Tech led 21-10 in the second quarter, but Harding trimmed the lead to four points on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Josh Powell to Jordan Watson with 3:10 left in the first half. Tech answered back with an eight-play, 75-yard drive that ended on a Tim Childress three-yard touchdown run with 55 seconds left in the half.
Tech led 28-17 at halftime and outscored Harding 24-7 in the third quarter. The Bisons’ touchdown came on a two-yard Kale Gelles run. In the fourth quarter, Terrence Davis caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Chaz Rogers for Harding’s final score.
Josh Powell completed 13-of-27 passes for 157 yards for Harding but threw three interceptions and was sacked three times. The Bisons used six different players at quarterback during the game, with three throwing touchdown passes.
Jordan Watson had six receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Harding receiving corps.
Defensively, Harding was led by redshirt freshman Kennard Henderson with 11 tackles. Senior Josh Jones had 10 tackles.
Harding (5-6, 3-5) celebrated its Senior Day festivities prior to the game as 16 players played their final games as Bisons.
