Power restored to SEMO - classes start at noon

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Classes are canceled until noon Monday due to a weekend power outage on campus.

Power was restored to the whole campus Monday morning. According to the university police department the power came back on around 3:30 a.m.

Over the weekend work continued on the installation of a new transformer to replace one that failed.

Classes that are held at the University's regional campuses in Kennett, Malden, Sikeston, and the Perryville Higher Education Center will not be affected.

University staff are being asked to report for their regularly scheduled starting times.

University officials said around 3:45 p.m. Saturday the university experienced a campus wide power outage because of an issue with the university's main power transformer.

All university events scheduled for Sunday were canceled.
