Man reportedly robs Steele Flash Market at gunpoint

STEELE, MO (KAIT) - An early morning armed robbery shakes up a Steele convenience store Saturday.

Flash Market on North Walnut Street was reportedly robbed at gunpoint at about 5:45 a.m. according to a news release from police. According to the information provided to Region 8 News, a store clerk entered the store when the suspect followed her in, showing a handgun and demanding money.

The clerk gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect left.

After the incident, the unidentified robber was reportedly seen running west. The suspect is described by Steele Police as being a black male in his early-to-mid 20s, about 6 feet tall and slender build.

Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Standfield is asking anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect to call his department at 573-695-2100. Standfield also said tipsters could call the department's hotline at 573-695-5146.
