ASU Falls to Florida Atlantic 35-18

Boca Raton, FL (KAIT) - ASU had their longest road trip of the season Saturday. Steve Robert's Red Wolves traveled 900 miles to Florida to face FAU.

Quarterback Ryan Aplin performed well in his first career start, going 20 for 27, 182 yards and a touchdown pass to Taylor Stockemer in the fourth quarter.
But kicker Josh Arauco was the rest of the Red Wolves offense. They knocked on the door all game long but couldn't find a way in. 35, 19, and 22 yard field goals gave ASU a 9-7 halftime lead.

Then the Owls let it fly in the second half.

Jeff Vancamp tossed two touchdowns to William Rose and Jason Harmon to give FAU a 28 - 9 lead with 12 minutes to go to put it out of reach.

Arauco drilled a 21 yard field goal to cut the deficit to 28 - 12. 6 minutes later, Vancamp and Alfred Morris connected for a 17 yard touchdown to make it 35 - 12.

With less than a minute to go, Aplin's 4 yard TD pass to Stockemer cut the score to 35 - 18, and that was the final score.

The Red Wolves fall to 2-7, 1-4 in the Sun Belt. They travel to Middle Tennessee next Saturday. Kickoff is 3:30 in Murfeesboro.
