Man convicted of shooting neighbor

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Pulaski County jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of his neighbor last year. The panel deliberated for about an hour before finding Deon Markregus Neely guilty on Friday.

Jurors recommended a 75-year prison term. Authorities say Neely had smoked PCP before Timothy Williams was shot to death in Little Rock in October 2008. Neely denied shooting Williams, and defense attorneys suggested the real gunman may have fled before Neely, naked, was found kneeling near Williams' body.

A state psychologist says smoking PCP can makes users' skin feel hot and cause them to undress. Prosecutors believed the men had been riding together in a car that hit the parked vehicle before the shooting. No murder weapon was found.
