Pocahontas mayor will not run for reelection

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - Mayor Gary Crocker says this term will be his last as the city of Pocahontas's mayor.

Mayor Crocker says he is returning to the private sector for reasons "90% family, 10% business."

He tells Region 8 News that he considers his time in office a success. Crocker feels his biggest accomplishment during his terms was when the city was able to save Randolph County's only hospital, Five Rivers Medical Center.

He also says he is proud of the city's new sports complex and the frugality involved in it's completion.

Gary Crocker says he does not expects to return to politics and instead plans on focusing on life in the private sector.
