SEARCY – The Harding men's basketball team will meet Northeastern State on Thursday at the Rhodes Field House in its first home game of the 2009-10 season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Harding is coming off a 75-70 victory at Missouri S&T on Monday in its season opener. Bison senior guard Matt Garner scored a career-high 19 points in the game and earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors. Junior Kevin Brown had 10 rebounds in the game and Stephen Blake had a career-high eight assists.
Northeastern State is a member of the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference, located in Tahlequah, Okla. The RiverHawks enter the game with a 1-0 record after defeating Ecclesia 69-34 on Monday in Tahlequah. Senior center Jason Jones led the team with 15 points, while guards Antoine Branch and Marlon Burnett scored 14 each. Northeastern State limited Ecclesia to only 10 field goals and 23.8 percent scoring.
Harding and Northeastern State are meeting for the 14th time with the RiverHawks holding a 7-6 overall lead, but the Bisons holding a 4-1 lead in Searcy.
