Mo. autopsy shows man died of blunt-force trauma

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - Preliminary autopsy results show that a 50-year-old man died of blunt-force trauma to his head and chest.

Capt. Derek Walrod of the Jasper County Sheriff's Department said Friday that a baseball bat and a knife were among the items seized after Ralph Ivy was injured Wednesday at a home outside Joplin.

He died at a Joplin hospital a short time after the fight. Authorities said he was struck with the bat. Thirty-seven-year-old Aaron E. Pilgrim, of rural Joplin, has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in Ivy' death. Pilgrim is being held on $100,000 bond. --- Information from: The Joplin Globe,
