SEARCY - The Harding men's basketball team (2-0) will look to open its season 3-0 for the first time since 2003 when it hosts Champion Baptist (4-6) on Monday at the Rhodes Field House. Tip-off between the Bisons and Tigers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
COACHES: Harding is coached by Jeff Morgan, who is in his 18th season as a head coach and 17th season as head coach of the Bisons. Morgan has a 292-191 career record and a 275-181 record at Harding.
Clint Fredericks is in his fourth season as head coach of Champion Baptist.
THE BISONS: Harding is 2-0 on the season after defeating Northeastern State 68-63 on Thursday. It was Harding's 34th consecutive victory in home openers. Matt Garner led Harding in scoring for the second straight game. He scored 18 points.
Garner is off to a sizzling start for the Bisons. In tow games, he is averaging 18.5 points and has made 13-of-16 from the field and 7-of-9 from three-point range. He has scored 37 points in only 41 minutes on the floor.
Junior point guard Stephen Blake has 11 assists and only one turnover in two games this season. He set a career high with eight assists vs. Missouri S&T in the season opener.
THE TIGERS: Champion Baptist is a member of the Association of Christian College Athletics and is located in Hot Springs, Ark.
The Tigers enter the game with a 4-6 record and are coming off a 61-60 victory over Rhema Bible Training Center on Saturday.
Junior guard James Manthe leads Champion Baptist in scoring at 27.7 points per game. Freshman B.J. Likins is averaging 17.1 points and 13.2 rebounds per game.
THE SERIES: Harding leads the all-time series 4-0 with all four games being played in Searcy. Harding's average margin of victory in the four games has been 48.5 points.
The Lady Bisons have their home opener Monday, hosting Central Baptist at the Rhodes Field House at 5:30 p.m.
