Red Wolves to host Missouri State tonight

TIPPING IT OFF: The Arkansas State Red Wolves play their second consecutive game at the ASU Convocation Friday night when they host regional rival Missouri State. Tipoff against the Lady Bears is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and the game may be heard on KWHF 95.9 FM "The Wolf" and through the StateZone portion of AStateRedWolves.com. LiveStats and video will also be available at AStateRedWolves.com.

THE TEAMS: Arkansas State will be looking to get back in the win column when the Red Wolves take the court against Missouri State Friday night. After posting back-to-back wins over Kansas State and UAPB, A-State was defeated by Virginia Commonwealth and Seton Hall in a pair of games in South Orange, N.J. and in their most recent action, fell 71-59 at home Tuesday night to Louisiana Tech. The Red Wolves will be playing their seventh game in the last 15 days when ASU tips off against Missouri State. Missouri State will take the court at 2-1 Friday night, and the Lady Bears have won two straight since dropping their season opener against Georgetown, 79-55. Since then, Missouri State has bounced back to defeat St. Louis 75-59 and SEMO 72-46.

THE MISSOURI STATE SERIES: Arkansas State holds a one-game advantage in the series, leading the Bears 7-6. The Lady Bears snapped a four-game ASU win streak in the series last year when they posted a 61-52 win over the Red Wolves in Springfield. The last ASU victory in the series was a 74-54 win in Jonesboro during the 2007-08 season.

 

THE COACHES: Arkansas State head coach Brian Boyer is entering his 11th season at the helm of the Red Wolves program. Boyer holds a career record of 170-139 and has directed the Red Wolves to the Women's National Invitation Tournament four times, including three of the past five years. Boyer is assisted by Tanya Ray, Rebecca Peoples and Jennifer Sullivan. Now in her third season at Missouri State, Nyla Milleson holds a 23-40 mark as head coach of the Lady Bears.
