Woman Found Murdered

Jonesboro police are investigating the death of a 24 year old woman who was found in her home on Friday afternoon. Police say she is a victim of homicide.

Around 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon investigators were called to an apartment complex on Warner Avenue after receiving a report of a dead female. Once inside officers found the body of 24-year old Leann Cowan in the bedroom of the apartment.

Police said it was difficult to identify her because the body was so badly beaten. Friday night the victim's body and dental records were sent to the State Crime Lab in Little Rock. On Monday the Jonesboro Police Department expects to know for sure in in fact the victim is Leann Cowan.

The victim's vehicle is missing from the residence therefore The Jonesboro Police Department has listed it on the Arkansas Crime Information System. The vehicle is a gold 1997 Pontiac Sunfire with Arkansas plates 045 CYS. Authorities believe the suspect is a white male, six foot in height, weighing 240 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The Jonesboro Police Department are currently in search of the possible suspect, 25-year-old Brandon Dent is wanted by authorities for questioning. Sergeant Kenny Oldham who is investigating this case said, "First off we need proper identification of our victim, and the location of her vehicle, once we have those pieces of the puzzle, then that will help us greatly in solving this case."
