Police: 2 arrested for robbery, 1 suspect still on the loose

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) – Caruthersville Police says 2 men are in custody and 1 is on the loose after shots were fired during a robbery attempt Tuesday afternoon.

According to Caruthersville Police, a fight broke out inside a home at 1311 Vest Avenue after 3 men entered the home in a robbery attempt.

Police say during the struggle, a gun went off but no one was injured. When police arrived, they saw 2 black males running from the scene, and were arrested a short time later. Police say a 3rd suspect is still on the loose and is considered to the armed and dangerous.

One of the suspects had to be flown to a hospital, because of an injury he suffered in the fight. Police say the suspect had his ear bitten off.

The 2 men arrested face Robbery in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action, and are both in the Pemiscot County Jail.

The 2 victims of the robbery were treated and released at a local hospital with minor injuries.

Police are not releasing any names yet, and the robbery is still under investigation.

The Caruthersville High School and Middle School were both put on lock down after learning one of the suspects had fled the scene. Police officers were stationed around the school, and school was later dismissed without incident.
