Suspicious package delivered to doctor's home

WEST MEMPHIS, AR (WMC-TV) - The delivery of what authorities called a suspicious package led to tense moments Thursday morning outside the home of a prominent Arkansas physician.

West Memphis police officers surrounded the home where Dr. Trent Pierce lives after the package was found early Thursday morning.

Members of the Memphis Police Department's bomb squad were called to the scene to inspect the package, which turned out to contain a cookbook.

Pierce, a family practitioner who serves as chairman of the Arkansas Medical Board, lost his left eye when a bomb in his car exploded on the morning of February 4, 2009.
