Senator Lincoln testifies before International Trade Commission

WASHINGTON D.C. (KAIT) - Senator Blanche Lincoln wants to level the playing field for Arkansas steel workers.

Thursday, she testified before the International Trade Commission claiming that China is subsidizing steel pipe imports, and that's hurting companies like Tenaris Hickman and Nucor.

Senator Lincoln says it's leading to less hours, lower pay, and even layoffs for Arkansas Workers.

"It's critical not only to keep these jobs, but to remind people that our workers can be competitive if it's a fair playing field. But the Chinese have chosen not to use a fair playing field and not to follow laws that we have, and the fact is we've got to make sure we do something." said Lincoln

Not only has Chinese dumping hurt the steel companies, Senator Lincoln says it has hurt Arkansas' Economy as a whole.
