1 dead, 1 injured in possible fall from cliffs

NORFORK, Ark. (AP) - A man has been found dead and a woman critically injured following a possible fall from cliffs along the White River in the Norfork area.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says a 911 call about 5:40 a.m. Wednesday reported two people missing and that they may have fallen from the cliffs.

Baxter says deputies and the Norfork Fire Department found 37-year-old Charles Edward Ragland dead and 40-year-old Elizabeth Suzanne Hubbard injured.

She was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center and was later transferred to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo.; in critical condition.

Baxter says Ragland's body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
