KENNETT, MO (KAIT) – Kennett Police arrested a high school student for a bomb threat at Kennett High School.
According to Kennett Police, a threatening note was found at the high school, saying an explosive device had been placed somewhere on school property.
Kennett Police, Dunklin County Sheriff's Office, and Missouri State Police moved all the students to a safe location while the school was searched. Police found no signs of any explosive device.
After a week long investigation, police were able to identify an adult student as the suspect who left the note.
The student confessed to police to leaving the note, but said it was only meant as a senior prank. Police will not release the name of the suspect.
Police are charging the student with terroristic threatening.
