Pageant benefits less fortunate

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - There is competition every year for donations during the holidays.  On Saturday a competition helped fund one Region 8 organization.

Last year  the students at the Cosmetology School of Designing Arts held a similar pageant, but this year decided to use the event to raise money to help others.  All proceeds from the pageant will go to buy gifts for the Salvation Army's angel tree.

"We're raising money for the kids that aren't fortunate enough to have a Christmas like us and it's just something fun for the little girls and little kids," said Lauren Eggers.

The group raised anywhere from $400 to $500.  They plan to take names off the angel tree and use that money and buy gifts for kids next week.
