Probe continues in death from fall at bluff

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) - Baxter County authorities are still investigating what led two people to fall from a White River bluff, killing one and severely injuring the other.

Sheriff John Montgomery says alcohol appears to be a factor in the Wednesday fall near Norfork. Killed was 37-year-old Charles E. Ragland of Mountain Home.

A woman with him, 40-year-old Elizabeth S. Hubbard of Mountain Home, survived the fall but suffered a head injury and multiple broken bones. Montgomery says he hopes to be able to interview Hubbard sometime in the next few days.

He said a third person who was with them, 33-year-year-old David Watts of Norfork, is cooperating with investigators.
