Jonesboro, AR (KAIT) - Head coach Brian Boyer called ASU's 67-60 overtime win over Texas-Arlington an "extreme tale of two halves." He wasn't kidding.
The Lady Red Wolves trailed 29-19 at the half, with 19 turnovers.
But ASU had several runs in the second half to force a 53-53 tie after regulation.
Overtime turned to the Shay Scott show. She had 8 points in the extra session and 16 overall on the night.
The win moves the Lady Red Wolves to 4-6 on the season. Three of their four wins have come in overtime.
All ASU starters were in double figures in either points or rebounds. Ebonie Jefferson had 19, but she suffered an injury in overtime. No word yet on her status. Nene Hurst had 13 and Meghan Lewis had 12. Lyndsay Schlup only had 2 points in 35 minutes, but her 12 rebounds fueled the Lady Red Wolves revival.
Meghan Nelson led the Mavericks with 19 points.
ASU will open up Sun Belt play Saturday against UALR. Tipoff is 7:30pm Saturday night at the Convocation Center.
