Jonesboro, AR (KAIT) - Brian Boyer and the ASU women's basketball opened the Sun Belt season with a rude awakening against Arkansas Little-Rock.
The Lady Trojans opened a 29-9 run in the first half to lead by 20 after 20 minutes and beat ASU 75 - 49.
Ebonie Jefferson was the only ASU player in double-figures with 13 points. UALR had four in double figures, including Kim Sitzmann and Britteni Williams with a game-high 16 points each.
The game's first eight minutes featured three ties and two lead-changes, but UALR's 29-9 run broke open the ballgame. They shot 50 percent from the field and led by as much as 31.
Lindsay Schlup had seven points and nine rebounds, while NeNe Hurst and Linsay Henke each had six.
Arkansas State returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Southern Illinois.
