The Red Wolves shot 70 percent from the line Sunday in a 69-61 win over the Trojans.
Martavius Adams dominated early. He had 8 points in the first 5 minutes, with 11 points overall. Adams fell a rebound shy of grabbing a double-double.
But the Trojans would hang in with the hot hand of Matt Mouzy. The former Nettleton star hit three trifectas in the first half and had 11 points on the afternoon. Alex Garcia-Mendoza led the way for UALR with 16 points.
ASU led 31-27 after 20 minutes, but would pull away with four Red Wolves in double figures. Daniel Bryant led all scorers with 17 on the day. JeJuan Brown and Adams each had 11 points, and Brandon Reed chipped in 10 on the win.
The Red Wolves move to 4-5, but more importantly 1-0 in the Sun Belt. UALR falls to 4-8, 0-2 in conference play.
ASU will travel to the Magnolia State to take on Mississippi Valley State. Tipoff is Tuesday night at 7pm in Greenville, MS.
